Since I was made to read a lot when I was younger, and I was a lit major I included just a few re-reads in this list. I searched numerous ‘100 books you must read before you die’ type lists and ‘100 greatest classics ever written’ compilations from the ALA, BBC, NYT and so on and so forth. I kept seeing titles I had already read so I did a little compromising. Re-reads are denoted with the rr.
